PET POLICY

We currently have a service animals only policy at the Center.
In most cases, we ask that people not bring their pets inside the Center.

However, we recognize that there may be cases where a pet that is not certified as a service animal under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) may still provide a beneficial service to the people at the OUTreach Center.

If you would like an exception to this policy, we ask that the request be submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration using the email address board@outreachcenterav.org. If you are submitting the request to attend a particular program or event at the Center with your pet, please also CC the program contact or event organizers for whichever you wish to attend with your pet if you know them.

Please answer these questions to the best of your ability:

  1. What are the names of the people responsible for the animal? Please list all that apply.

  2. What type of animal is it, and if applicable, what breed?

  3. What service(s) is the animal trained to perform? Please do not include confidential medical information.

  4. Which programs or events are you planning to attend with the animal? Please list any that apply.

If your request is approved, please also note the following:
  • All animals present at OUTreach Center events and programs will be expected not to be disruptive or unsafe. If an animal is disrupting any program or event, we may ask that it be removed. Cooperation with such requests is mandatory for all participants.

  • Inclusion of pets is also subject to the discretion of program contacts or organizers for the program or event you are attending. We recommend contacting any programs or event organizers before bringing your pet the first time to ensure the appropriateness in advance.

Responsibilities of Pet Owners:
  • Pet owners are fully responsible for their animals’ behavior and any consequences thereof.

  • Pet owners must ensure their animals are not disruptive during events and programs.

  • Pet owners must comply with requests to remove their animals if they become disruptive.

  • Pet owners must ensure their animals are up to date on their vaccinations.

  • Pet owners must be sensitive to the safety and comfort of other participants at the OUTreach Center.

  • All animals at the OUTreach Center must be supervised by their owners at all times. They may not be allowed to roam loose.

We will let you know our decision by email. Thank you for understanding and helping to make the OUTreach Center a more inclusive place for everyone.
